Field Workshops for Adults

We know the importance of educated decisions…made one at a time by each of us and by our island neighbors and visitors. Demand for more frequent and expanded two and three day in-depth workshops that provide greater access to scientists and that provide hands-on learning experiences in the field needs to be met. Islanders and visitors want –and need– to understand these islands.

The San Juan Nature Institute offers a selection of workshops each season that inspire people of all ages to participate in the lifelong process of learning and discovery. Whether you’ve lived in the North West for years, moved to the islands recently, or are making plans to come, Nature Institute workshops help explore your place in the intricate balance of island ecosystems. Results? A sense of connection to these amazing islands through outdoor, science-based discovery.

The beautiful San Juan Islands are, naturally, the outdoor classroom. The intricate tapestry of landscapes, rich with unique opportunities to explore the secrets of the natural world around us, are introduced by science educators who are passionate about their area of study. Instructors come from a variety of science backgrounds, each with a comprehensive knowledge of our islands’ natural setting that you will find delightfully contagious and informative.
